Our Mission
To provide for the Orphans, Widows and under-privileged within the Mushunga Community and to raise the children
in a Christ focused life of love, respect and acceptance.
“God spared my life not so that I could live for me but so that I could just give everything to Him. You know, God's not asking for much. He's asking you to give up something you were never created to be so that you can become who he says you are. It's really not that much. I mean, Mercy woke us up today so that Love gave us one more day to manifest Him and not us.”

My name is Tonny and I am 24 years old. I live in a small village called Mushunga where it is hard to earn a living.
Back in 2019 I decided to take care of the unprivileged and orphan children who had to believe that I could help in sustaining them.
What moved me first was the compassion I had for each of them and as I worked myself I could give them the best life possible they all needed.
l loved the kids and they also loved me.
However I never had a well set up building (housing) for them, the one I had which was in our village (community) was an abandoned house which was not favorable and conducive for the children to stay in.
One of the people who was trying to help me out so that the children can have at least a better life connected with a friend who came to visit me. During the visit he told me that I was doing what seemed to be the best but the children's life wasn't secure enough because of the environment they stayed in. He then advised me to find out each of their relatives or guardians so that they can be in those homes whilst supporting them from there!
Probably it wasn't a good idea to bring in the children to stay in that poorly structured building. Unfortunately, heavy winds and rains destroyed and the building was broken apart!

I worked hard and made posts on Facebook. In addition, every social media platform, fortunately it reached many western countries like the UK, USA and Australia.
A generous lady from Provo, who I had made friends with, reached out after seeing all that was happening and she made sure that the children always had food in their guardian's home.
She continued to support us and bought mattresses and bed sheets for the children and a lot of necessities they needed at that time.

I was happy that technology had turned out to be an advantage for us, a platform where we can share the message and people, friends get touched and opt to support us.
Then in 2020 l met a lady that l had met in years that had already passed. I was so desperate to the extent of asking help from anyone I came across online.
I met with another person, Jen, who was also from the States. I asked that she would help me and organize a Facebook fundraiser for the children. At first she ignored me but I insisted and convinced her that we needed more light about each other. Light creates understanding, understanding creates love, love creates patience, and patience creates unity and finally, she agreed to help. She asked me to get photos of the children, where they stay, their lifestyle, school and all of their information.
We were able to have love, prayers and support sent to us by our lovely supporters and sponsors from Facebook.
She went on and created a website which allowed donors, supporters and sponsors to access each child's information.
We had a fundraiser for clean and safe water which was to repair the borehole and our lovely supporters made it possible for the children to have safe water.
Until this time, we were operating as a Community Based Organisation called "God's Care Organisation" on a small scale, trying to get donations from kind people around the world to feed the children, buy clothes and try to pay for them to attend school to get an education. Building a new home for the children seemed to be an almost impossible dream! We really needed a miracle.

One day, Linda, a lady from Australia, reached via email and offered her help.
She shared that she had been following me on Facebook for some time, and she felt she needed to help but until that time she never had much to give. She had been fortunate enough to have been gifted some money by her brother.
She told me that she wanted to help build an orphanage for the children of Mushunga. She was good to her word and transferred the funds we needed to build the orphanage. She explained that her brother had sent funds to cater for the building, land, materials and everything that was needed for a successful start of the project.
The construction of the building started early January 2021.

Unfortunately my friend Derrick, who had been a supporter, the person who told me to move the children to their guardians, was called to serve as a missionary outside Uganda. He left everything he had and went to serve the Lord. l had no one to help me with most of the technical stuff. l didn't have a higher education, but l had some good practical knowledge and a lot of good will and enthusiasm.

It was then that I spoke with my friend, Innocent, who offered to help me whenever I wanted something to be done. He's now working with us and is putting in great efforts to see us succeed. He has filled the important role of Project Treasurer, in Uganda. While undertaking this project he has also had to juggle the successful completion of his Masters Degree (congratulations Innocent!!) We are grateful for his devoted support.

In 2022 we restructured and rebranded the project. We created an International Board of Directors with people from UK, USA, Australia and Uganda and registered the charity as a Corporation and an NGO. This has taken a lot of work and time to get right but we now have a cohesive and well-structured organisation. We are also planning that the children should continue having a better education, better environment, safety, food, safe water and self-sufficiency programs.

We believe our mission can be achieved with the help of sponsors and supporters. We love our supporters and appreciate what everything they have contributed.

We want to start with small scale projects that can be easily managed. We aim to involve all of the children from an early age, so that they can learn practical life skills including agriculture and animal rearing. This will enable them to break the cycle of poverty in Mushunga.

If you are not able to support us financially, we would love to hear your ideas on how we can progress our organisation. If you would like to support our volunteering effort, raising awareness for the project, please get in touch.
We thank all of the supporters who have already helped us achieve what we have. Your support, kindness and love towards us is a real blessing.

We will always remember what you have done to help our Mushunga Community Project.
