Caroline Tukumuhebwa is a 12-year-old girl, who is the youngest child in her family. Caroline has three older siblings born to her father in a previous relationship. Caroline’s early years have been extremely difficult with both her mother and father struggling to live with a HIV+ diagnosis.

Caroline’s parents divorced, and her mother re-married. Her biological father recently disappeared, and no one knows where he has gone to or how to contact him.
Two of Caroline’s elder siblings have travelled to a bigger town, to try and improve their own prospects by finding a job and having money to support themselves, and, at some stage later, their family.
Caroline’s mother and stepfather do not have the space or the resources to accept Caroline to live with them. The house they live in is made with mud and banana fibres as a roof, and when it rains, they have nowhere to sleep. They know that these are not conditions in which Caroline can thrive.
Caroline is an extremely resilient little girl, and out of real necessity she has learned how to prepare food and care for herself with sheer survival instincts. Caroline currently stays with her step-sister, but this is not a sustainable situation.
On seeing her living conditions, Tonny, the director of the Mushunga Community, was extremely disturbed and saw a need to help Caroline who has a great desire to learn, but never had the opportunity to go to school.
We have worked hard to ensure that we get Caroline started with her education. She is a motivated student and knows that putting in some hard work here at the Mushunga Victorious School, her studies will help her create a more sustainable life.
We now urgently need to find Caroline a sponsor so that we can not only support Caroline in her studies, but also offer Caroline safe and secure accommodation and support her in a broader sense.

To support Caroline, we need a contribution of $35/month, that will enable us to offer her a safe home, clean clothes, nourishing food, ongoing health and social care and a good education.
Providing Caroline all of these things will ensure that she is able to build a life for herself and educate others in the community to rise from their impoverished beginnings.
Unfortunately, Caroline is not the only child facing these or similar circumstances. If you can help, in any small way, please contact us to find out more about how you can sponsor a child in the Mushunga Community Project.
If you want to help, and are unable to commit to a monthly spend, please consider making a one-off donation, or holding a fundraising event to support the children of Mushunga. Contact us to find out more.
