Hi! My name is Bridget Kiconco. I am 22 years old and serve as a class teacher for Primary Two at the Mushunga Project’s Victorious Community School. In addition to my teaching activities, I am also a pastoral carer at the Mushunga Community’s Children’s Home which is on the same complex as the school.

I completed my studies in 2022 and graduated with a Certificate in Primary Education and Early Childhood Development, making this role a perfect fit for my skills. I love working with kids.

I got involved with Mushunga Community Project early this year to support the project’s children with their studies and a new way of living. My motivation for joining the project was to support caring for the orphans of Mushunga.

Every day I aim to put a smile on the faces of these little angels in the classroom, and outside the classroom too, and I make a big effort to let them know they are loved. I try to engender in them a love of education by attending to each of them on a one-to-one basis. My dream is to see these children excelling, and becoming confident, happy individuals as they grow to adulthood.

I believe that it is my calling to serve these children. I have a deep-rooted feeling that God sent me here.

We have organised a chapel on the project grounds, and every morning we share with children about God. This is one of my favourite moments of the day. It is a joy to witness the children’s sheer joy when they are learning about God and getting to know Him, much better, as their creator.

I am grateful to be part of the Mushinga Community Project because I feel it is having a real impact on the wider community in Mushunga. We are spreading love, and as part of that, our children receive everyday care, medication, and food – all of these things give them a sense of security in which they can flourish.

We feel extremely blessed that people in other countries, near and far, are showing their generosity of spirit to also help these children. We always enjoy a moment of celebration when Tonny announces that a new child has received a sponsor!

I dream big for the young girls and boys of Mushunga. I dream that one day they will fulfill their dreams - nurses, doctors, presidents among them – and that I and you have played a small part in that achievement. We are raising these children to change the world, with love – not just for their own sake, but also creating a sustainable change for the generations that follow.

I am super proud to be part of the Mushunga Community Project.
