Peter’s Policeman Transformation

Sadly enough, Peter Mugisha’s story is no different from all of our children who come into our care from difficult circumstances. However, the way he has responded to the love and care that he has received from the Mushunga Community Project is a beautiful story that we wanted to share with you.

It was 2019 while he was in Primary One that we were able to take Peter into the Mushunga Community Project.

At the time, Peter was living with his mother who was struggling to live with HIV. Peter’s mother frequently changed her partners, leaving Peter with little or no sense of stability in his life.

Early in 2019, Tonny (our Community Founder) came into contact with Peter and immediately understood the misery of his situation. Tonny noticed that Peter had signs of a recent accident that had been left untreated and Peter had severe injuries and wounds around his buttocks.

Peter had subsequently dropped out of school, and had started to spend most of his time in community garbage.

Tonny saw his need and via the project’s sponsors, was able to get the necessary funding for the hospital care that he urgently needed.

Once Peter had recovered from his injuries, he re-started school and was delighted to be re-connected with his classmates. Peter’s mother then contacted Tonny and requested that Peter stay at the Mushunga orphanage to avoid further injury.

Thanks to the awesome sponsor that Peter had, all his basic needs are now fulflled – clothing, good nutrition and medication. He attends the project’s Victorious Community School, and on arrival, due to the early education that he had missed, and the recovery from his trauma, he was, understandably, a slow learner. Wit the love, care and attention from our incredible team, Peter has made huge improvements and he now smiles freely once more.

Despite his harrowing start in life, Peter is full of love. He has made it his duty to always serve the food to the youngest at the orphanage, and make sure they are all happy. He is a generous, jolly and loving boy who lights up the rest of kids at the project.

Peter dreams of being a policeman in the future, and is motivated to do this because he wishes to protect people in the community.

If you would like to sponsor a child just like Peter, and help take their life from misery to mastery, please get in touch. We need your support.
