Mushunga Community Project Farm Land Fundraiser

Dear Friends,

We would like to open with saying that we continue working towards the success of our little project at Mushunga Community Project (“Mushunga”). As always, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and dedication to the Mushunga Project and its children.

With your help, our long-term goal to help the children of Mushunga to thrive in their communities is becoming a reality. Our education programme is improving literacy and will, over time, decrease poverty in Mushunga. We are working hard to build a sustainable business model that will enable us to grow our small project into something even bigger and more impactful but realistic and achievable.

Our founder, a young man named Tonny, has always held a vision that extends beyond himself. He started this project with the goal of helping orphaned children, fending for themselves, on the streets of Mushunga. His vision has had huge impact and positive change to the lives of these children, and your support as sponsors has played an essential role in this journey.

To secure the future of the Mushunga Project and reduce our reliance on donor funds, we have developed a transformative sustainability plan. We aim to acquire 10 acres of land for poultry farming, bull fattening, and corn grain production. This project will generate 70% of our operating budget, ensuring the longevity of our programs and services.

Our Board has already raised the funds and paid the 10% deposit on the 10 acres and the owner has graciously agreed to giving us until the end of this year to fundraise the balance. Our self-sufficiency proposal incorporates setting up the farm with livestock and planting crops to become productive and reduce running costs at the orphanage and school.

The 10 acres of fertile land with available water is only 300 metres away from our current site.  This will allow us to build more classrooms, accommodation and play space for the children.

Our aim is to raise $55,000 by offering the following sponsorship packages:

Sponsor an Acre: $4,700

Half Acre Sponsorship: $2,350

Quarter Acre Sponsorship: $1,175

Administrative Costs: Contributions towards land papers and transfers

Purchase of livestock, their shelters and seed for crops: Chickens, cattle, maize etc.

Any Amount: Even gifts as small as $10 can help move us closer to our goals.

Volunteers: In our pursuit of sustainability, we are actively seeking volunteers to join our team, particularly those willing to help with the crucial role of expanding our income-generating activities and ensuring the long-term success of our mission. If you or someone you know is interested in joining us, we would love to hear from you.

If you have and questions or suggestions, please get intouch directly support@mushungaproject.org or contact our Chairperson, Martyn Crespel at mangarelle@gmail.com. You can also contact us via WhatsApp on +256 757607385. We remain available to respond to your questions regarding this project.

We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone for your continued support and belief in our mission.

COMPLETED: Water Bore Repair

The village water bore was broken and water was unsafe for drinking.  Our supporters raised funds to repair the bore bringing clean water to the community.  Thanks to all who donated.

COMPLETED: Building - First Stage

Our new building project began in late 2021 after raising enough funds to complete stage 1. From the first truck load of building materials, it's been a miracle for this community of children.

COMPLETED: Latrine Building

Our latrine is 50 feet deep and was dug by hand!  We now have a block of 4 toilets on site to serve the residents and carers.

COMPLETED: Land Acquisition

In 2021 we were able to purchase a plot of land in the Mushunga village to start building our new children's home.  Your donations are what made this milestone possible.

COMPLETED: Building - Second Stage

After months of skilled manual labor, we have a beautiful building to house our children and base our Project.  We are recognised within the Community for our good works.
